2026 Summer Programs

Magical Forest Camps for Every Child

Rooted in the Cedarsong Way forest school pedagogy and guided by principles of occupational therapy, our themed summer camps invite children age 27 months and up to spend their days in nature — discovering, creating, exploring, and growing through sensory-rich outdoor play.

With a 1:5 child-to-adult ratio, neurodiversity-affirming practice, and OT-informed support, each child is seen, celebrated, and inspired to explore the magic of childhood in every corner of our private, forested Eastside and Jefferson Beach locations.

Step into a summer of woodland magic at Little Fern Forest, Eastside, where 15 private acres of towering trees, mossy trails, and a gentle seasonal creek become your child’s playground. Nestled between Monroe, Duvall, and Cottage Lake near Woodinville, our OT-informed Summer Forest Camps invite children to explore, imagine, and grow in a sensory-rich outdoor environment designed just for them.

Each week is guided by a nature-immersed theme and a beloved Book of the Week that sparks curiosity and wonder. From building fairy homes and mixing potions to creekside discoveries and hands-on science, children lead their own adventures while developing confidence, creativity, and deep social-emotional skills. With a nurturing 1:5 child-to-adult ratio, every child is truly seen and supported.

We are proudly neurodiversity-affirming and welcome children of all neurotypes. Potty training is not required, and formal occupational therapy is available (most insurance accepted). Here, families find their village, and children grow at their own pace, in their own way, rooted in nature and wrapped in belonging. Our 2026 Summer Forest Camps open for registration on February 24th. 🌿

  • Summer begins with muddy hands, cool water, and joyful splashing in our seasonal creek. Children are invited to follow their senses as they stomp in mud, build mud pits, and explore flowing water and hidden waterfalls. This week celebrates messy play, body movement, and the simple delight of being immersed in nature alongside friends.

  • Children become nature sleuths, using observation and inquiry to uncover the forest’s secrets. We’ll search for animal tracks and scat (age-appropriate!), study signs of weather and seasonal change, examine leaves and bark, and ask big questions about what we find. Using magnifying glasses, journals, and curiosity, kids will piece together clues about who’s been in the forest and what’s happening around them.

  • Dive into the magical world of pollinators! Children will learn about bees, butterflies, and other pollinators while taking nature walks to observe them in action. Children deepen their understanding of interconnectedness as they explore how these tiny helpers support life all around us.

  • Plant seeds, learn about growing food, watch them sprout, and take them home to care for! Celebrate the Summer Solstice with sun catchers, sun tea, and water play, bringing light and warmth into our summer adventure as we explore how nature thrives and grows through the seasons!

  • Join us for a week of magical experiments! Kids will mix colorful waters and explore chemical reactions. It’s a week of bubbly fun and fizzing potions, all while learning the magic of science!

  • The forest is our instrument! This week, children will create forest-inspired instruments, from drums made of logs to wind chimes crafted from sticks and strings. Together, we’ll enjoy jam sessions under the trees, creating music with the sounds of nature.

  • Children explore the ingenious homes of forest animals — nests, dens, dams, and burrows — through observation and imagination. Using loose natural materials, they experiment with building their own structures inspired by these animal architects. Process, collaboration, and problem-solving guide this week of hands-on creation.

  • Step into a magical forest where the trees whisper secrets and every path holds a new wonder. Children will embark on enchanting journeys to explore the woods, searching for and crafting homes for the tiniest protectors of the forest—fairies! Through storytelling, creativity, and reverent play, children explore their imaginations while deepening their relationship with the land and its quiet wonders.

  • Stories come to life in the forest as children create characters, build props, and share tales inspired by their surroundings. Through collaborative play and self-expression, children explore storytelling in ways that feel authentic and joyful. This week honors voice, imagination, and the power of shared stories.

  • Celebrate the harvest season by picking wild berries and making berry ice cream! Kids will learn about the changes in the natural world as summer comes to a close and they forage for fruit/greens, learn about seasonal foods, and enjoy the rewards of their labor with a delicious treat we make together! This week invites reflection on cycles of growth, nourishment, and gratitude for what the land provides.

  • The forest becomes a living art studio. Children create ephemeral art using leaves, stones, sticks, mud, and petals: mandalas, sculptures, and land art that will slowly return to the earth. This week centers creativity, impermanence, and noticing beauty in the present moment.

  • Children will become forest cartographers as they explore the land and create their own maps of the woods! Using observation, landmarks, symbols, and storytelling, kids will draw maps of trails, creeks, special trees, and secret gathering spots. We’ll practice navigation skills, follow each other’s maps, and learn how maps help us understand and care for the places we love. A week of exploration, creativity, and discovering the forest through fresh eyes.

  • We close the summer with water, play, and celebration. Children explore wading, swimming, and water games in the sensory-rich environment of Cottage Lake. This joyful final week honors community, confidence, and the memories made throughout the summer together.

*Because we follow the rhythms of nature, water locations may shift. If Cottage Lake experiences an algal bloom or other environmental changes, we will choose an alternate nearby body of water that supports safe, joyful water play. Families will be informed as soon as possible.
